Bio
I attended Yale University and the University of Texas at Austin and received my Master's in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. I hold counseling licenses in Texas (LPC) and North Carolina (LCMHC).
My background includes work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in community mental health clinics, non-profits, psychiatric hospitals, and state programs supporting individuals reintegrating into society after prison, as well as private practice. One of my central professional focuses is grief. I led survivors of suicide bereavement groups at the Christi Center in Austin, Texas, as well as adolescent grief groups in the public school system, and have presented on suicide and complicated mourning. Other formative experiences include mentoring adolescents in the foster care system at the Settlement Home for Children and working with high conflict families navigating divorce at a practice specializing in family therapy. I have worked extensively with young adults and couples.
I recently moved to Durham with my wife and daughters from Austin, Texas. In previous lives, I was the chef and co-owner of a farm to table restaurant and a teacher in Asia.
